Becky,

Thank you for posting.

Here in Texas, at Fort Hood, many soldiers, both men and women are on their third tours of duty. They have been asked to sacrifice beyond what most of us can begin to imagine.

Many have children, and are separated from them for months at a time. Thanks to our NIMH, and groups like NAMI, they are put on psychiatric drugs while they're in the war theater! Talk about crazy! More are placed on drugs when they return.

These service members do NOT need drugs. They need people who make sure they are not forgotten, who welcome back into their circles when they return, who spend time with them... Who let them talk, or let them be quiet if they don't feel like talking.

They need our support. They do NOT need psychiatric diagnoses and drugs!

I was watching the history channel tonight.. The men who fought the German Luftwaffe (air force) a year or more before the Normandy Invasion... In their B-17s Flying Fotresses, 25,000 feet in the air....

The temperature in those plains was low... 50 degreees below zero! Unfortunately, so was the life expentency.... Very low.

They did it anyway.
They did it anyway, in spite of the cost.

I suppose, the history of our military could be summed up with, "the more things change, the more they stay the same." These men and women are willing to serve because they don't want to see women forced to wear burkas, and a world placed under Sharia law.

They are willing to sacrifice all they have for the cause. Many, unfortunately do not come home.

We need to be grateful for their service.

My apologies for the redundancy, but I'd like to put a link up for any military service members and veterans who might be reading your blog -

Duane,

Thanks for your comment. You know that you will get no argument from me---

The men and women who serve in the Military do have my appreciation, the ones who meet me know, because I express it.

Your link was added to the For Veterans section a few days ago, thanks!

Dustin Busch, is a young man I featured in, 'I Have My Reasons' is a Veteran who fought in Iraq. The adjustment to civilian life is a struggle for many as you know. Dustin is my 'adopted' son and I have to say it is painful to see him so hurt and be powerless to change it.

PTSD and TBI are all too common in the Veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq--Our Veterans need our support and our prayers...

My best,

Becky

Air strikes in Libya...

Please tell me we're not going to try to take on a third war, with ground troops.

Europe needs to help with this... other nations need to take this one on.
