When Jane & Johnny Come Marching Homeless
The wounds of war are not all on the outside. Moving a nation to care.
About The Film
"One of the most important documentaries being made at this time."
Ron Kovic, Vietnam Veteran, Peace Activist, & Author of Born on the Fourth of July.
When Jane & Johnny Come Marching Homeless is an upcoming, feature length documentary about the hidden wounds Veterans have always faced upon returning home from ALL wars. The battle doesn't end when a soldier returns home, for many, it's just the beginning.
We hope to move a nation to care, with this film. Our goal is to make a real difference in the lives of these brave men and women, and their families- to bring compassion and understanding to their plight, and to give a great sense of hope through the Voices and work of those who have already walked and lived this journey, and to present a path towards healing.
This film is not about politics, its focus is on Human Beings- our Sons, Daughters, Brothers, Sisters, Mothers and Fathers who served in good faith only to return home forever changed and ultimately, rendered invisible.
Within many returning soldiers, there is a feeling of an emotional and psychological disconnect from that which was once safe and familiar. They find themselves feeling an emotional "homelessness"- of being lost, isolated and uncomfortable despite being surrounded by their loving family and friends.
Some of the most pressing and insidious hidden wounds include: Post Traumatic Stress, formerly known as shell shock and battle fatigue in WWI & WWII. PTS is associated with war flashbacks, intrusive memories, nightmares, paranoia, emotional numbing, hyper vigilance, and unpredictable behavior. There is also Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) which often goes undiagnosed only to show up later, military sexual trauma among both men and women, drug & alcohol addiction, homelessness either living on the streets, in cars or couch surfing, and suicide.
